5 Creative Ways to Do Your Something Blue!

The ‘something blue’ component of the age-old rhyme of bridal good-luck charms is extremely important to many traditional brides, but it’s not always easy to find fun, creative ways to satisfy the requirement. We thought that there may be more interesting ways to incorporate your something blue other than the usual blue shoes, pedicure or sash. While we find those things quite cute and appropriate, here are 5 ways you can bring in a mellow blue hue that we find to be a bit different! (Warning: Etsy Overload!)

1. Shoe Candy

We love these special shoe-clips from Etsy. They come in super cute preppy designs (with many blue options) and you don’t have to buy a whole new pair of blue shoes just for the wedding if you don’t want to! The clips can also come off and be replaced by something else for the reception. It’s a win-win that leaves you with two pairs of adorable, preppy shoes for the price of one!

2. Custom Lingerie

We think this “I Do” and “Mrs.” lingerie sets may be the cutest things ever. They add a little secret pop of blue that only you (and later your groom!) will know about. With the little extra rhinestone designs, they are a really cute and sexy way to do your something blue!

3. Birthstone Rings

We LOVE the idea of these special, meaningful rings. In addition to your engagement stone, try out one of these birthstone rings that have your month’s birthstone on one side and your hubby’s on the other. Though this may not always work for your something blue if neither of you have blue-birthstone-birthday months, it is still an adorable, lovely way to honor your husband-to-be on your day and for years to come!

4. Handkerchief

Though the blue monogrammed hanky is usually what most brides go for when it comes to their something blue, we thought this vintage, custom embroidered hanky was a bit different and a tad more special. In this Etsy shop you’re able to choose a little symbol to go next to your new last initial, whether it be your favorite flower, animal or your whole initials. We love that its embroidered on a vintage handkerchief so you can knock out your something old and something blue in one fell swoop!

5. Brooches

And finally, in the spirit of combining your something old with your something blue, let’s call your attention to these beautiful, classic guilloche enamel pins. Though they can get on the pricey side for some of the older pieces, they are a gorgeous and unique way to do your something blue. Whether its the pin that holds your bouquet’s ribbon wrap together, you pin it in the hem of your train or its on full display in your hair or pinned to your dress, we think these sweet, unique brooches could bring a really special element to your day.
